The Garden Project - Before & After

We have finally finished the raised beds in the garden! We actually finished a few days ago, but since they were finished, I have been busy sowing seeds, so apologise for the delay of this post.

Anyway, so here it was before we started all the work:

and now...

64-fabulous-square-foot-gardening-squares for us to grow lovely things on! The green loops are for the horticultural fleece to sit on.

We are sooooo please by the beds. Dave did a fantastic job of building the beds, and I had a lot of fun turning over soil and organising the beds. I've spent the last two days pottering about and I think we got the size of the beds and the width of the paths just right, it's very comfortable to work around. The paths around the beds are actually wide enough that we can keep the plant pots all along the walls.

Dave also put up my Ikea hanging pots (that I bought last year and did nothing with until now) on the back wall and I have filled them with some late spring/summer flowering bulbs. I have some early seeds sown on the beds, some back up seeds sown in the green house (the green thing you can see on the right side of the photo), some seeds indoors on sunny windowsills and some in heated propagators.

I really hope we get a better harvest this year!
